Turning Point Behavioral Health Care Center announced the addition of new services today. Effective immediately, psychiatric services will be available to all Turning Point clients ages 18 and over once they are established in agency outpatient services. Clients may be referred to a psychiatrist by their Turning Point clinician or caseworker to determine if medication would be an appropriate adjunct to their therapy.
"In addition to the individual therapy, outpatient group therapy, case management, and Psychosocial Rehabilitation (PSR), some adults with chronic mental illness will benefit from medication as well," said Ann Fisher Raney, Turning Point CEO. "By providing psychiatric services and the opportunity to see a physician while at Turning Point, we are able to provide more accessible and comprehensive care. We have worked closely with our medical staff to establish a program that best meets our clients’ needs. This is another level of care we are proud to provide.”
“The standard in mental health care is the ability to provide both psychological and psychiatric care as necessary,” said Noorani A. Noorani, M.D., Turning Point Medical Director. “Most patients will benefit from an integrated treatment approach of medication, cognitive therapy, nutrition, exercise, and mindfulness. This expansion of services takes Turning Point to that next level of care and is part of the ongoing care coordination between the Turning Point medical staff, therapists, and case managers.”
The Turning Point staff of approximately 60 which includes psychiatrists, clinicians and support staff provide care to both children and adults. In 2016, Turning Point provided care to over 1,200 individuals. Both Open Access and The Living Room at Turning Point serve as models of innovative community based mental health care.
