Diverse Cultures: Demonstrating Humility. Sunday, May 4, 2025 at Skokie Public Library. Facilitated by Dr. Candice Hughes, LCPC. In today’s interconnected world, engaging effectively with diverse cultural backgrounds is crucial. Two key concepts guiding this engagement are cultural humility and cultural competence. While both are important, the debate continues as to which should come first. This session explored the definitions, differences, and significance of cultural humility and cultural competence, advocating for cultural humility as a foundation for deeper, more respectful interactions.

Turning Point’s 24th Annual Town Hall Meeting. Friday, March 14, 2025. 10:00 – 11:30 a.m.  Hear from our legislators all the latest news relating to mental health and wellness. The Town Hall was held virtually. Recording is available HERE.  A panel of elected officials and local experts discussed mental health care access and the impact of current political and economic factors on mental health services.  The panel discussion was moderated by Alison Leipsiger.

Suicide Prevention: You Can Help. Thursday, January 30, 2025, 6:30 – 8:30 p.m.  A free virtual training for all adult community members.  ‘QPR’ Suicide Prevention Gatekeeper Training empowers everyday people with the tools to recognize and respond to someone in crisis. QPR stands for Question, Persuade, and Refer – three simple steps anyone can learn to make a difference.
