The fundamentals of recovery

At every interaction and in everything they do, Turning Point team members demonstrate their passion for their professions and commitment to our mission. Their compassion and deep respect for the dignity and autonomy of each client are hallmarks of our approach to mental healthcare and essential to the recovery model we follow, our code of ethics, and the promise we make to all we serve.

Our Recovery Model

The recovery model of treatment we follow serves as the roadmap for a successful journey toward recovery and embodies these principles:

Having a vision that includes hopes and dreams and setting realistic goals to achieve those hopes and dreams.

Realizing the value of drawing on support from friends, family, healthcare professionals, and others in the recovery journey.

Personal Responsibility

Relying on oneself, with help from others, while working to control one’s symptoms, and making choices that reflect one’s goals and life priorities.

Empowering individuals to manage their own behavior.

Expressing oneself with courage, determination, and persistence in a clear and calm manner in order to get one’s needs met.

Taking responsibility in learning about one’s health, wellness, symptoms, and treatment in order to make good decisions.

Finding meaning and purpose in one’s life based on one’s own values and beliefs.

Through the use of these foundational principles, we aim to provide care that:

  • Supports recovery
  • Achieves treatment goals
  • Enhances the quality of life
  • Ameliorates or eliminates symptoms
  • Increases functioning and integration into the community and family

Our Code of Ethics

  • The interest of the persons served is always respected.
  • Activities shall reflect the best interest of the general public.
  • High professional standards will be maintained and promoted.
  • Regard for the integrity of member organizations and other agencies shall be maintained.
